We're safely back in Bridlington and missing the French sunshine and of course all of you! Thank you so much to everyone for making the exchange visits in Bridlington and Millau such a success. Here are some photos to remind us of how the week ended.

This morning students were lucky enough to have the opportunity to learn how to write Chinese calligraphy. Other posters around school show just how many languages are spoken at Collège Marcel Aymard. Can you work out which ones they are?

Students have spent this morning in a variety of lessons in the French school; they have studied everything from Maths to PE, and from Spanish to Chinese!
One of the student's 'Carnet de liaison' - the equivalent of our planner
I spoke to Gina and Katie who said they'd enjoyed the morning, even if it has been a little confusing. In an English lesson Miss Gardiner and Mrs Stephenson were asked lots of questions about their life in England and their impressions of France, including whether or not we like One Direction... we said NO!
After lessons there was lunch and then time to relax in the courtyard.

When we arrived in Millau, it was very warm and we were all very tired, so we had a quick drink at the school and went back to the houses we were staying in. When I arrived at Camille's house, I had a shower and some tea and went to bed. In the morning I woke up at 6.15 (5.15 in England!) because we had to catch the bus at 7am. When we arrived at school we met in the hall. Once everyone had arrived we went on a tour around Millau with some french students, then we had some free time to shop. After, we went back to the school for some lunch, then we went rafting which was fun until our raft capsized and I couldn't get back in, but everyone else found it very funny. After rafting, everyone tried hydrospeed, but I had fun watching. In the evening, we visited the primary school for a show and a party, where we ate paella. It was very fun until I fell asleep in the classroom! I hope the rest of the week is as fun as Friday was!

Hi everyone!
Being in France is really good so far. Yesterday we went hydrospeeding where you lie on a big float board and go down rapids in the river. We then went rafting which is where 6 people go in a big inflatable boat and go down the rapids; I even managed to lose a shoe!
Last night most of us went to the music festival which was good too.
Today Emily R and I went with Mathilde and Emilie to town to buy presents for our friends and then everybody did a quiz on the town.
The weather is also really nice here
Emily W.

Bonjour parents!
The exchange has been mint so far and so was today. We visited the Beffroi tower which had an amazing view of Millau from the top but it was so tiring walking up the spiral stair case. Will and I had to stop half way for a rest because we are lazy.
After visiting the Beffroi tower we had to get into groups, mixed between English and French, and we were given a quiz sheet and had to find the answers around Millau but we were not allowed to use the tourist information or the library. The group that won the quiz got a bag of sweets.
When we finished the quiz some French kids were teaching me and Will how to dance but we failed miserably at it.

The prize for the winning teams in the quiz today was a packet of carambars...
But did you know that the decision was announced to stop printing jokes in the carambar wrappers....see this link
(hint: check the date of the article carefully)
CHALLENGE: there will be a prize of another pack of carambars for any exchange pair who can successfully tell a joke (French student an English joke and English student a French joke) which makes at lest two of the teachers laugh

So far, the exchange has been great! This morning Jade and I went into town with Heather and Lucie, we went shopping and then Jade and Lucie bought Heather and me a drink at a restaurant. After lunch we went back into town to visit the Beffroi and do the quiz with everybody. It was a good day and the weather was hot too:-)

Bridlington students have enjoyed an excellent first morning in Millau!
We started the day at school where the topic of conversation was definitely all the different evening meals that were eaten last night (most students were surprised by how many courses they were offered - Annie said that she thoroughly enjoyed her food and ate loads before realising that what she was eating was only her starter!!).
We then headed off for a guided tour of the town. With French students as tour guides, we learnt all about the main monuments of the town, including the old beffroi, the viaduct and the museum. Students then enjoyed free time around the market and relished the opportunity to buy cherries, fans, hats and other souvenirs.
Oh dear - Jonny and Will hats have lost their tops!
After a warm welcome at the Mairie we had lunch in the canteen. Since today is Friday we had fish together with some delicious melon, pate and tomatoes.
We then enjoyed live music in the courtyard of school as part of the Fete de la Musique.
Now it's time for canoeing this afternoon - more photos later.
